The Guild Saturday woman- Mo Abudu

This woman of many part has been specially selected to be, The Guild Saturday Woman.

Born Mosunmola Abudu but better known as, Mo Abudu, is a talk show host, TV producer, human resources management consultant and an entrepreneur.

Mo, as she is fondly called was born on September 11, 1964 in the United Kingdom. At the age of seven, young, Mo’s parents relocated back to Nigeria but she was sent to live with her grandparents in their cocoa farm in Ondo state.

She attended Fiwasaye Girls Grammer School, but upon her father’s death, young ,Mo,  returned to the UK to continue her education at the age of 12. She had her secondary school education at  where she continued her education at Hammersmith County Secondary School before moving to the Ridgeway School in Kent where she lived with her guardian in Tunbridge Wells.. From there, she went to West Kent College and Mid-Kent College. She has a master’s degree in HR Management from the University of Westminster, London.

After working in the UK as a Human resources manager for several years, Mo, returned to Nigeria and picked up a job with Esso Exploration & Production Nigeria Limited (now ExxonMobil) as the head of their Human Resources and Training Unit in1993.

This woman of many parts as earlier said, left ExxonMobil, to set up her own privately owned human resources development company known as Vic Lawrence & Associates Limited.

She is the brain behind the training centre of chains of Protea Hotel.

This woman who desire to have more and described by Forbes as ‘’Africa’s Most successful Woman’’ started Ebonylife TV, which is aired in 49 countries across Africa and in the UK and Caribbean’s.

As the producer and host of the popular talk show ‘’Moment With Mo,’ she has interview key personalities in Nigeria and around the world. On one of her over 200 episode, she interview former Secretary-of-state, Hillary Clinton.

This mother of two who somehow has been able to keep her private life secret from the prying eyes of the public has been recognised and received many awards around the world. In 2013, she was recognised by Formes as the first African woman to own a Pan- AfricaTV. She was also listed as one of the ‘’25 Most Powerful Women in Global TV by The Hollywood Reporter in 2013.

Widening her scope, Abudu, delved into filmmaking in 2014. Her first movie ‘fifty’ produced under EbonyLife Films,featured,  Omoni Oboli, Dakore Akande, Nse Ikpe Etim, Ireti Doyle, Timini Egbuson, Wale Ojo,  among others, had a London and Nigeria premiere and had it own fair share at the cinemas in Nigeria.

Her second  movie ‘Wedding Party’ featuring, Banky W, Adesua Etomi, Sola Shobowale, Ireti Dolye, Richard Mofe-Damijo and others is so far the highest grossing movie in Nigeria. The sequel ‘Wedding Party 2- Destination Dubai’ has also been premiere and nollywood critic awaits it outcome.

Her latest work, ‘’The Royal Hibiscus Hotel’ was recently premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
