The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his major contender, Jimi Agbaje, attended same church service, to seek God’s favour as 2019 gubernatorial election campaign kicked off.

At the 2018 Unusual Praise Concert in Lekki on yesterday night, both candidates seek God’s assistance to achieve victory at next year’s poll as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday lifted ban on governorship campaign for 2019.

Joining both candidates in the praise for successful poll, were; Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Sanwo-Olu’s running mate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and National Communication Commission (NCC) former chairman, Ralph Ndukwe and others.

Sanwo-Olu, after exchanged pleasantries with Agbaje at the concert organised by Catholic Church of Divine Mercy, stressed that it was necessary for him to thank his creator for the mercies showered on him.

“It’s always a pleasure to give praise to God because there are a ton of reasons why I will always have praise on my lips,” the APC candidate added.

Earlier, Sanwo-Olu urged party members and his supporters not to engage in any act that could truncate 2019 electoral process, even as he commended Agbaje for standing firm with the ideology he believed in.

“INEC lifts restrictions on campaigns for gubernatorial elections across the country. As friends, family and political rivals go into passionate debates during this period, tempers will rise and fall. But one thing is for certain we have but one Lagos.

“To our supporters, let us shun the politics of violence, aggressive conversation, hatred and bitterness. Let us remember that though we are divided in our choice of candidates, we are all united in our desire to see an even greater Lagos.

“To my opponent, dear Jimi Agbaje, I may not be able to wish you victory, but I definitely wish you well,” Sanwo-Olu added.

Responding, Agbaje commend Sanwo-Olu for the kind gesture but argued that next year’s election is basically for Lagosians.

“To Mr. Sanwo-Olu, thank you for the well wishes. In the same manner, I extend my best wishes to you and all the other governorship candidates running in Lagos. This election is about the people of Lagos. Let the campaigns begin.”
