At least, 500 inmates of Kurmawa Prisons in Kano State were set free by President Muhammadu Buhari as part of the Federal Government’s effort to decongest prisons across the country.
Buhari was said to have advised the fortunate ex-convicts to be of good patriots and engage in ventures that was in line with rules and regulations of the country.
The president while addressing the freed inmates on Wednesday during his visit to the prison alongside the state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, urged them to do away with anything that would bring the back to prison.
The Guild gathered that the ex-convicts were given undisclosed amount of money to transport themselves back home and the state governor on his part, implored the inmates to be of value to the society and be of good behavior.
