The Zamfara State Police Command said it has arrested a suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler, identified as Musa Abdullahi, in the state, as part of its effort to eradicate banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, among other criminal activities in the state.
Musa who was also known as Gaugai, was said to have been arrested on January 1 by the Anti-kidnapping Squad of the command on Operation Sharar Daji in Kunkeli and Chabi villages in Maru Local Government Area of the state.
According to police, the suspect was alleged to be one of the members of kidnap gang terrorizing the state, and that he had initially been declared wanted by police.
In a statement made available to Journalists on Wednesday, the Police command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Shehu, in Gusau area of the state on Friday, said that Musa was currently assisting the police to apprehend other members of his gang who were presently on the run.
The PRO said that the suspect would be charged to court immediately after the command had completed investigation on the case.
“One Ak47 Riffle with five rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspect,” he said
Shehu, however urged members of public to report suspicious movements and activities around them to the nearest police.
