The Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has gained control over crisis rocking the state House of Assembly by settling dispute among two warring factions within the assembly.
After governor’s reconciliation, which brought the crisis among the house members to an end, the assembly was said would reopen on Thursday to further consolidate the resolutions reached at the meeting.
It would be recalled that the State police placed the house under temporary lock after the reported crisis erupted among lawmakers, with plan to remove state Speaker, Yusuf Atta, from office.
Through a statement released on Wednesday by the state Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, Ganduje said that the reconciliation meeting was held late yesterday at the state house between representatives of the two feuding factions and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who intervened to resolve the crisis in the interest of peace and democratic development of the state.
The guild recalled that the Assembly had on Monday came security agents barricade following exposed moves to impeach the speaker.
The Assembly sitting was subsequently suspended till after Eid El- Fitr by the Speaker.
the guild reported that the members bent on impeaching the Speaker rose to 24 out of 40 on Tuesday, later removed the principal officers and vowed to continue with the impeachment procedure.
