Two staff of a private firm have been remanded by a Chief Magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State for allegedly stealing Indomie noodles from a shop in the state.
It was gathered that the accused persons; Samuel Usang, 19 and Alex Jeremiah, 22, who also carted away from the shop school bag, twelve pairs of branded T-shirt and cash, were facing two counts of burglary and stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, the accused persons committed the offence on March 24 at about 12:00 a.m, at Okesa market in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the duo allegedly broke into the shop of the complainant, one Alex Olawale, and stole twelve pairs of T. Shirt valued at N30,000, school bag valued at N4,000, Indomie valued at N7,700 and cash sum of N10,000 total valued at N51,700 belonging to the complainant.
Leranmo said the offence which are purnishable under the law, contravened sections 413(1) (2) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The plea of the accused persons was, however, not taken, as the prosecutor demanded an adjournment to enable the police duplicate the case file and forward to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, ordered that the accused person should be remanded in prison custody pending an advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Ajibade adjourned the case til April 24, 2019 for mention.
