President Muhammadu Buhari visited former vice president, Alex Ekwueme, at his London hospital, barely 24 hours after leaving the country to continue his treatment.
It would be recalled that Ekwueme arrived London with some family members who accompanied him on the trip, was earlier hospitalised at Memfys Hospital of Neurosurgery, Enugu, for chest inflection, before Buhari approved his request to be flown abroad for further treatment.
Buhari, who was represented by Secretary to the Government of the federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, on Monday at the hospital, prayed for Ekwueme’s speedy recovery.
The senior special assistant to the president, Garba Shehu, disclosed the visit in a statement made available to the Guild, revealing that the former vice president was rushed to the hospital in an air ambulance due to his critical condition.
Shehu hinted that the SGF was in London before Ekwueme’s arrival, and he was received by Helen Ekwueme (Spouse to Ekwueme) on behalf of the family.
He said that, the SGF told Ekwueme’s family that the President and all Nigerians are praying for the speedy recovery of the elder statesman, adding that he believed that the doctors would do their best to restore his health.
