Atiku has solution to Nigeria’s challenges-Jonathan, Saraki

By Newsdesk

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Senate President, Bukola Saraki, have asked Nigerians not to consider other presidential candidates including the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari, saying, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Abubakar Atiku, has solutions to Nigeria’s woes.

They added that the experience garnered over the years in business and governance has prepared him for the office he is seeking to occupy during next year’s election.

Jonathan and Saraki spoke on Monday during the party’s North West Presidential Zonal Rally in Sokoto State, which was also attended by the State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal and others party chieftains.

The former president argued that PDP was the only party that can eradicate hunger and ensure that Nigerian has food to eat often, saying, this makes Atiku the most eligible.

“From 1999 till today, we have seen four presidents from Obasanjo to our late brother, Yar’adua to myself and the current President.

“You have seen how the various Presidents and the various parties have worked and one thing that is very clear is that PDP is still the number 1 Party.

“There is something that all of us feel as human beings. Every day, everybody must eat and if you cannot eat well, then you won’t be happy. PDP is the only party that can make sure that all of us eat very well in the morning, afternoon and evening.

“And let us not make any mistake. Those of us who are adults, old enough to vote, if we vote wrongly, our children and grandchildren will not forgive us. Today our country has a lot of challenges and we have looked at all the presidential candidates.

“We have about 30 presidential candidates, being presented by about 30 political parties. All of them are good people. We have known them, but among all, we have seen that it is only Atiku that can deliver.

“Atiku is experienced enough. He has demonstrated clearly from his personal life and his business life that he has that capacity to bring this country to one and make sure that our economy grows so that all of us will have food to eat”.

Saraki added that to end the disunity that had presently truncate peace and harmony in the country, the country needs Atiku because he would unite and tackle insecurity.

“The man that can bring food to the table, the man that can fight security, the man that can unite Nigeria is Atiku Abubakar.

“I ask one young man, why has North West now become PDP, he said in 2015 security problem was only in the North East but today, the security problem is not only in the North East. No security in North West.

“The young man said ‘we are going to vote for PDP’. I said why, he said, ‘Oga there is no food. There is hunger. In the time of PDP, there was no hunger. That is why we are voting PDP.’

Also at the campaign, Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, said the 2019 election is not a contest between Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari but a contest of the people.

He added that the PDP has come to make situations better and uplift the life of Nigerian citizens.

“Now, they will deceive you to say that this election is about Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari. But, the election is not between the two of them. The election is about you, it’s about you women, it is about you, the young people of Nigeria. It is about every Nigerian citizen who is suffering untold hardship on account of lack of leadership.

“So, we want to review a lot of things. For instance is your lives better now than in 2015? Is security better now than it was in 2015? Are we more united now in Nigeria than we were in 2015? So, these are the things that are on the ballot paper.”
