The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed release of younger brother to traditional ruler of Ikulu kingdom, Yohanna Kukah, in the state, by abductors, even though the perpetrators were yet to be apprehended and that they did not ask for ransom.
It was gathered that the Kukah who is a younger brother to Hassan Kukah was kidnapped on 2nd of January at his residence located at in Anchuna village, Zangon Kataf local government area in Southern Kaduna.
However, the abductee was said to be freed from bondage on Thursday after spending about nine days with the kidnappers.
Confirming the realse of Kukah, the state command’s Public Relations Officer, Mukhtar Aliyu, explained that the command was aware of the kidnap as Samaritans had earlier reported the incidence to the police.
Aliyu stressed that the suspected kidnappers were yet to call for ransom, but police patrol team and special unit were deployed to rescue the traditional ruler’s brother unhurt before he was released.
Although, the former abductee family member who plead anonymity said that the family was happy to have received the man unhurt.
He added that the traditional council was yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
“Most importantly, our Chief has returned hale and hearty and we thank God for that”, he stressed.
